The North Coast

What can we say, Tela was beautiful. It is located on the northern coast and is a very lush part of Honduras. You can find coconuts, bananas, coffee, pineapple, watermelon, etc.

Getting to Tela was quite an adventure. It all began with a bus ride that was supposed to get us to San Pedro Sula for our connecting route to Tela however, we were met with a slight delay when our bus broke down. We waited in the sweltering heat for 2 hours until they decided to send for a replacement bus. The bus turned out to be half the size of the one we were just on and was already completely full of people. They did however manage to fit all of us on by cramming us in like sardines. Somehow, on a bus meant for 20 people they fit 50. The best part of the trip was when Tina offered to make room by holding a women's box and discovered, to her surprise, that the women's precious cargo was a chicken. Throughout the trip the chicken would poke its head out of the box. What a sight! This trip was supposed to take four hours however, with the delays it took eight. Need less to say, we were exhausted when we arrived, but were excited to relax at the pool and drink $2 beers.

Brett- My favorite part was that I didn't get burnt. I relaxed and tried to blend in with the locals by buying a straw hat. I don't think it worked!

Nikki- My favorite part was drinking fresh coconut milk on the beach. Tina- My favorite part was eating conch soup. The most awkward thing was having people point and stare at us and walk by and whisper "blanco's."

Overall we think our trip to Tela was a success. The trip home was uneventful but gave us enough time to dream of our next vacation.
